I have many files stored in Inmotion hosting public_html folder >attachments. Most all of them are linked to text within pages currently in Inmotion hosting pages. I am going to covert to WordPress soon and wonder if Domain Replace could make all my current links that are now in WordPress work once I replace the Inmotion hosting folders. I would plan to keep the Attachment folder so links would work.
New at this so not sure how all this works. I can copy all the files into the wp uploads folder. Would Domain Replace work in this situation.

Domain Replace works when you need to change url. Like your current domain is abc.com and you will change it to xyz.com. In this case, the plugin will help you.
About your file can you give me 2 links one from current site and other from new site? Lets see if we can find anything.

I am not sure I can give you links that will help you. The WordPress site is not public and is going to replace the current site using the same Domain. WordPress is currently a subfolder within the current domain public_html folder.
The following is the link to my document that is in the attachment folder inside public_html folder of the current site. I believe this is an internal link that doesn’t work jus to type in as a URL in a browser. This same url was copied over to the new WP site page but doesn’t work.
I am beginning to think that I will need to copy all the documents from the attachment folder to my upload folder of WP and then manually go in a redo every link manually.
I have them actually copied over to WP but they don’t show in the media Library. If I could get them to show there that would be a big help in doing the manual link.
When I actually replace the current site with the WP site would Domain replace then be needed?

The domain replace plugin is useful when you change domain only, otherwise not.
You have uploaded all the files but it wont work in wwordpress, the files need to be registere. Here is a plugin that is helpful for this, please take a look: https://wordpress.org/plugins/media-from-ftp/
You still nees to change link manually for all files in the wordpress site.
